ABOUT THE TEACHER
Kimberly Simpkins, a violinist, received degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (BM, Violin Performance) and UT Knoxville (MM, Violin Performance). She has performed with many orchestras, including Knoxville, Oak Ridge, Symphony of the Mountains, North Carolina, Long Bay (Myrtle Beach), and Tulare (California). Her international experiences include a study-tour in London in association with the Royal College of Music, performances at the InterHarmony International Music Festival in Italy, and, as a member of the Celebrant Singers, visits to nearly 30 nations with performances in such unusual venues as a leper colony in India, orphanages in China and Rwanda, and for the Archbishop of Canterbury. Mrs. Simpkins is also active as a violin instructor for several area organizations, and her students range in age from 5 years old to mid-50s. She enjoys taking a holistic approach to education that includes some of her students receiving All State Honors.
