ABOUT THE TEACHER
Sarah Salazar is known not only for her voice, but for her zest for life. Salazar is an active performer (even through the pandemic) and is recognized for her rich timbre, sparkling highs, and wide range. Her understanding of the vocal instrument allows her to seamlessly cross genres and she can be seen performing opera, musical theater, and pop.
Sarah has sung in many venues throughout the world. Her favorites include singing as a soloist in Carnegie Hall with the Mt. Sac Chamber Singers, performing in Salzburg, Austria, and being one of the first singers to perform in the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (formally known as the Valley Performing Arts Center).
She has performed with numerous companies throughout California, including Opera Santa Barbara, Pacific Opera Project, Valley Opera and Performing Arts, Lyric Opera of Orange County, and currently sings as a Fox singer with the Verdi Chorus of Santa Monica. Her most coveted performance was being the Reciter for Schoenburg's Pierrot Lunaire (one of the most difficult pieces of music for a vocalist). She has also performed the national anthem at many events, and was given the opportunity to sing for the LA Galaxy.
In addition to performing, Salazar has a passion for enriching the lives of children through music. She has extensive experience teaching children and a special way of motivating children to love music. Salazar has conducted and music directed many musicals and children's choirs. She conducted and assembled the children's chorus for Pacific Opera Projects performance of Carmen at the Ford Amphitheater.
